Decided to change the front drum brakes to disc. Found a vendor in FL that sells caliper mounting plates that will allow the use of the original 14" wheels. Every other vendor I contacted indicated that I would have to go to 15 inch wheels which was just not an option for me. The caliper mounting plates and inner bearing bushings cost around $225 and the rest of the parts ran about $250 from Rock Auto. I did have to do a little mill work on the steering arms so that they would clear the lower ball joints. I also changed the single master cylinder to a dual unit and added an adjustable proportioning valve for the rear brakes for $75. My car is fitted with power brakes and the booster mounts above the master cylinder and the new dual master cylinder would not fit with the standard cap. I machined a new cap out of 1/2" aluminum and installed a couple of right angle fittings that go to the remote reservoir that I mounted on the firewall.
