Hey all. I have a buddy that is wanting to buy a 472 Cadillac motor out of a 1969 caddy and put it into his 61 caddy which currently has a trashed 390 in it. Just wandering if the transmission would mount up or not. Thanks for any help! ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1466125995.456079.jpg

Why not us the 400 turbo out of the 69?

The easiest way of doing this engine to transmission is to use a 1961 to 1964 Pontiac dual coupling hydramatic bell housing. This is a BOP bell pattern, but has the starter mounted to the bell housing. The newer engines have block mount starters, but this might work with respect to the bell mounted starter.

Just get a TH400. I am currently working on a 472 - TH400 combo wit ha high stall converter that is going into a 61 Caddy Town sedan. Sure there are going to be some things to get around but trying to get it to work with the Hydro is more work that I wanted to mess with.
