Pretty sure that yellow roadster pickup is Gray Baskerville's.Later lettered with "M&R" on the door I believe, but I could be wrong...

Come on man,at least give them a glance before you post them.
The second car is wearing Crnterlines up front, and a 70's pro stock snorkel scoop,And the 3rd car is wearing a 90's aero style pro stock scoop, and Centerline Telstars,or whatever their equivalent was in the drag-only line.

This stuff isn't that hard to spot. Please screen these more thoroughly before posting.

    That begs the question:
If a car built in the time frame defined by "traditional" roadsters is updated with newer wheels and a newer hood scoop (or engine) is it no longer appropriate to post it here - regardless of its historical significance?

If so I will respectfully withdraw my The Last Logghe altered from consideration in this thread since I had a 6-point cage put on it so I can continue to race it, not just show and cackle it.

Scott, perhaps a bit harsh on Loudbang. If anyone deserves some latitude it is him. He has been a stalwart in keeping this thread alive with some incredible pictures.

  10. I'd rather have someone take the time to review their postings than for someone else to take the time to comment about it.

I just re-read my post, and yeah,I do think maybe I was a little cranky about the way I came across with my point.Loudbang isn't a bad guy,and I wasn't going after anyone on a personal basis.

The point I WAS trying to make,is that there are literally MILLIONS of other websites out there where we can see pictures of "nostalgia" cars that aren't,but there will only ever be ONE Hamb, and the burden of keeping the Hamb up to this standard is on us,the members.

Personally,I don't want to see these cars once they've been "updated" cosmetically to 70's or 80's specs, and I don't think many others would either.
Frenchtown Flyer: Updating a roll bar to keep the car on the track instead of gathering dust somewhere is a different matter in my opinion. It was done out of necessity, and in a way actually SAVED the car and gave it a new lease on life.
The stuff with o/t wheels and bodywork however,I just don't think that has any place here, unless maybe showing some kind of before/after picture when the car was found or something?

Loudbang, sorry if it came off as a personal shot at you, because it definitely was not.
We just have a big responsibility here to maintain the quality of the Hamb, and sometime, like the other night, when I'm dealing with insomnia like usual at around 4:00am,I sound a little more crusty than I intend to.
    No hard feelings pal.

Well I ran them through my billion dollar image recognition work computer but unfortunately I don't have a list of every wheel and or scoop made after 1965 to input into it could you build a list for me?. Or you could be my editor I will email you the 200+ photos that I USED to download for the HAMB weekly and you can point out the two or three that don't work send them back to me then I will post them.

no problems powrshiftr - I just thought the distinction may not be black and white but there is a little bit of grey area. Before and today pics of the same car are fine with me.

The reason I piped up about it,is because there was a guy posting a ton of o/t photos of 70's and 80's floppers, and back motor diggers over in the "Drag Cars in Motion" thread a little while back, and a lot of folks feared it would get the thread shut down.
I didn't want something like that happening over here, too.
The rules say 1965,but the mods let a bit of stuff slide in the interest of cool, historical race cars.
Stuff that runs off into the 1980's needs to be on another site.:)

If your billion dollar computer doesn't know that Centerlines and aero scoops aren't "circa 1965" equipment, then I think you need a new computer.
I wasn't trying to be a dick, just trying to keep the thread from straying off track.
You post a ton of cool pictures,so a lot of guys naturally respect your opinion, and will say "if it's ok for Loudbang to post, then I can post some slightly o/t stuff too".....And that's how it begins to slide.

Then it all ends with a bunch of guys screaming at each other, and a really great thread like this getting locked down.
And there's nothing worse than logging on,only to find that one of your favourite threads has been killed off:(

Only one for today. But it's a good one

Hugh Tucker won the Winternationals three times in the 1960s in Little, Junior, and Super eliminators —with his Olds powered 28 Chevy AA/Street Roadster entry.

By 1974, Jim Stevens had to implement as many tricks as he could in order to keep up with the Pro Stock Chassis, Fiberglass Bodied Street Roadsters that had hit the NHRA scene. Notice how differently the car is launching and the numerous aerodynamic enhancements. He was then running dual 4 barrels and the Boss 302 made lots of power. The pickup ran in the 9.70 range and captured the 74 Division 7 Championship in Modified - its' final season on the drag strip.

    Hello,
Here are two racers than always seemed to go against each other at Lions. One is an alt roadster that was super fast. The other was an alt coupe that had different drivers and was also fast. Any id info is appreciated. Coupe: Ratican, Jackson, Stearns, perhaps? roadster id? anyone? drivers?
    Thanks,
    Jnaki
