Art & Inspiration Hillbilly crash helmet in 1959

    Was watching the 1959 Hot Rod Nationals and at the end saw someone wearing a hillbilly crash helmet.
    I know Stanley Mouse also wore then, but in 59?
    It looked taller than the Roth ones.
    Anyone got a clue?

  4. I think Roth popularized them in the early '60's, that's when I got mine. He probably saw that one and stole the idea !

    Roth did get the idea from Stanley Mouse.
    I find that Mouse setup a studio in 1959.
    I thought that was rather early for a hillbilly crash helmet
    but apparently not.
    I love seeing Mouse's kustom kulture stuff.
