I seen this and was worried also. One of the funnest parts in 2014 was running with passengers. I am really slow so hopefully they will let me do it again.

So the wiring harness debacle is complete, tach and line lick wiring tied in,trunk floor, cell, pump mounting and line routing are all mocked up,should have most of that completed tonight. Also getting the seat and shifter position right tonight.
Picking up the motor Monday morning.,hope to have the clutch/flywheel/pressure plate installed by Monday night/Tuesday morning.
Got our hands full, but I'm feeling pretty good about it.

This video does not do the Scout justice... this thing is LOUD !! with a capital Holy Crap !!
You know... so loud you could walk past your daughter's stereo and not hear it... loud

I unloaded the little beast out of the trailer and immediately drew a crowd of my gear head nieghbors. 20 minutes later an RCMP officer rolled in... (Oh oh!!) I greeted him with a "Can I help you officer ??" His response killed me ... "My cousin says you have a really cool race car, thought I would come and see it" 5 minutes later the officer was strapped into the seat as I winged the throttle a few times.

I know we already talked to BJ about when she can make some passes! The team at Byron really is the BEST!

Can someone please tell me the rules on scattershield/blowproof bellhousing on stick shift cars? I really can't seem to find anything that says when it is required.

It's required in the NhRA rule book at some point....I'll have to dig out my rule book.
Honestly,I wouldn't run a stick shift car without one.If it blows the clutch or flywheel to smithereens and takes off one or two of your toes, that's a bench racing story for the boys.
If a big chunk of flywheel tomahawks that 11 yr old kid leaning over the wall to get a pic of your super cool 56 while you're doing your burnout.....I know I would never be able to live with myself:(

Joe J. Was looking for one for you a while back, then I never heard anything more about it from either one of you,so I just assumed you guys had got together and made a deal.

  16. This just happened to me a couple of weeks ago with the Southeast Gassers at Montgomery, AL. All SFI stuff inside a Lakewood bellhousing. Only 5 runs old. New stuff breaks too! Going for 2nd gear it let loose hard enough to deform the bellhousing and break the block. Wife said it was a fireworks show under the car. Everything stayed in the bellhousing IM015097.JPG IM015098.JPG though and I KNOW it saved my feet. Thank GOD and Lakewood! Some guys are running the stock aluminum bellhousings to save weight. THINK ABOUT IT!

The official Southeast Gassers video from Montgomery came out today and you can see the fireworks in the video. Glad nobody was injured in that mishap. Would have been horrible if you didn't have that scatter shield.

  20. I hope this will be a wake-up-call for some people.

A friend of mine had a 301 in a 1961 Chevy with 4 speed and no blow shield at Dover Drag strip way back in 1965 had a clutch explosion and a chunk of it went through the car and into the spectators watching from the side of the track and cut the spectators arm pretty good.
Of course the spectator sued and won and my friend has been having his pay docked every month to pay it off (he made the deal because he couldn't pay the whole nut all at once) to this day 51 years later and will probably be paying until the day he dies.

    Yes you need one.

I was hoping to get to come this year but I am afraid it is not going to happen. My son ethan has a football fundraiser for that Saturday morning if we get to leave it will be Saturday morning around 11A.M. it is a 10 hour drive for us.
I was planning on bringing a whole truckload of old magazines.

I was hoping to see my stuff paired up but maybe it will be a newcomer that gets its place.
