I was not able to go this year, but thanks to your great photos I only feel "a little" left out. Thanks for the great coverage.

Tell me more about this pre-LARS workshop tour. Who, where, when, how? I want to do this next year. You can pm me if you don't want to screw up your thread. BTW, awesome, awesome pics! It's almost overload. I need to go back and scoll thru them all again.

    - you just need to keep your eyes open for threads here - best thread on open house tours, etc was "LA Hot Rod shops/sightsmap" thread by p__moore, Jun 11, 2016

  9. No worries at all.

The workshop tour was organized by Jim Landree. For every day Jim provided handouts with detailed directions. Check out http://www.laroadsters.com/html/shop_tours.html

Tuesday June 14: Start was at the NAHR Museum with 5 visited workshops

Wednesday June 15: Start was at Moon Eyes and they visited seven shops in total

Thursday June 16: Start at the NHRA Museum with five stops (e.g. Ron Magnus Upholstery, Kennedy Brothers (incl. swap meet), NHRA Museum visit with discounted entry, …)

At the end of the Thursday tour they provided a tour plan for the open houses at various shops for Friday June 17 (e.g. Early Ford Store, Stoker’s, Michael McDowell, SoCal, Walden (yes, with ice cream)). At the open houses there were car shows too, so very interesting. And very generous, almost all shops during these four very intense days offered drinks, water and/or sandwiches for free.

BTW there were rumors that the Early Ford Store is going to move to a new location.

As I already mentioned, with this pre-show program it’s up to you to get the most out of your trip and not to forget to get in touch with new people. Right after the show I visited Kevin (Cyclone Kevin), who makes Cyclone cylinder heads for flatties. A very nice guy and a long time traditional hot rodder who works out of a small garage in Alhambra, CA. He’s a HAMB Alliance Vendor.

Thanks for photos, we fly over every year from Aussie and always enjoy show, before show this year we toured Mt Rushmore etc and travelled 4100miles in 19 days, met Rolling Bones team on way to the 4 Corners Monument, we exchanged T shirts, nice guys. Had a ride in cart with DoyleG

I drove to LARS 2016 from Smithfield, VA and saw the cars of some of the fellows who drove their hot rods out there in our group. I'd never seen the thread! Thanks, Stogy, for bringing it to top so I'd finally get to see it.
    Really great memories!
Makes me long to go again... again!!
