The Alcohol guys only use gas when it's REAL cold out side (at least the ones that know what there doing do) and then it's a mixture of about 75% alcohol and 25% gas. Gas floods the engine real easy if you get too much in there and you would have to miss it bad to flood it with 100% alcohol.
I guess I'm taking injectors off for Montgomery, they are just to big for the little 331. I have a smaller set I'm going to fix for it. It's going to be candy ass carburetors for Montgomery tho.

They are running a little behind. Mitch has to drive over an hour each way to help with the editing and do the voice overs. Plus we are adding another person to talk with Mitch to make it sound better. This deal is costing a fortune and Mitch is doing his part for free. I never knew there was so much to doing a show this way but we have dove in head first as we do everything else LOL. I'm thinking it will be out this week.

  4. Having a hell of a time finding the 'wheelie spot' on the front ladder bar mounts. I had 2 holes that were almost 2 inches apart. The low hole causes it to stand straight up. The higher one hardly pops the wheels up. So I drilled a new hole right in the middle ;) We'll see what it does Saturday!

  6. it would have to be below 45 degrees before I would use gas. I agree with the ease of starting on alcohol.

My dragster started best on 87 octane. I had a nitrous plate I used with a small pump from napa and a jr dragster fuel tank. I'd pull the lean out back and run it back on gas to heat up the engine and keep the oil clean. It had a Ron's terminator on it and ran alky. 15 1/2 to 1 comp, 582 BBC, 4.50's in the 1/8. It would kick back on racing gas, and it was running low one day so I poured generator gas in. It started 10 times better.

  8. What the Mad Banana said! If your new middle hole isn't right, put it on the bottom hole, and start moving 10 lbs at a time to the nose, until the hang time is where you want it, and it's still SEG style.

  17. Wow that event was tough to describe  We got there and started sweating

    IMG_2970 (Copy).jpg

And then we were treated to some true Southern hospitality with a low country boil

    IMG_2971 (Copy).jpg

    Then it rained -

The power went out. But - the first car to the finish wins! Right?

The event made it to the semi finals and then the storm was Biblical - sitting on the starting line and watching huge bolts of lightning come down - I'll never forget it! Hottest - wettest - coldest I've ever been in one day

Well , how many times did you get to run and how did Q&D perform?

  19. I got in 3 runs two were about 6 flat and one was a 3rd gear start. Got to pay attention to the Jerico ..... It never did wheelie so back to the low hole and possibly add some weight up front.

When you go to the top hole do you readjust your wheelie bar. If not that's your problem because it shouldn't make that much difference just moving it up or down an inch or so. You should see a difference but not that much.

  23. The wheelie bar is in the same spot it was in when the Knoxville photo was taken. The clutch might still be to tight on the base pressure. I never did back it out. Its completely toast now - cooked it good on my 3rd gear launch. Its been getting abused until I found the clutch pedal was sticking. This week I'll pull it and and take a look.

Same spot by measuring and readjusting after the bar move or same spot but way lower because you rotated the housing to move the ladder bar up. It's a mistake some make, you have to readjust the wheelie bar after rotating the housing.

  27. Oh gotcha. Now I recall you telling me this before. I didn't move the wheelie bar during any of the front bolt testing - just adding to the confusion.

    Yeah Dave lets see:
    - 5/8" stroke so now 467 cubic inch - was 400 cubes
    - 280 @ .050 cam - was 270 @.050
    - 15:1 compression - was 11.5:1
    - stroker crank is 15lbs lighter than a stock crank

That's about it. I have the rev limiter disconnected - it was too inconsistent with the mag.

Darlington is August 5th. Plan to do some testing someplace before that though.

If you wasn't adjusting the wheelie bar after a ladder bar move that's the problem. When you raised the ladder bar in the front you just lowered the wheelie bar a bunch and there goes your wheelies and traction problem. Lowered the ladder bar back down in front wheelie bar back up instance wheelie's. Leave the ladder bar where it is and reset the wheelie bar.

  29. This Facebook thing is really confusing but has a ton of good pics and videos of the race. Here are a few I snagged.
