Event Coverage Party Like It's 1967 (SE GASSER Opener)...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by seadog, Apr 30, 2016.

  1. April 30th was the season opener for the Southeast Gassers at Greer Dragway. Record crowd and the rain held off till the end. I spent the day there and shot a ton of pictures. Here are a few to get things started. I'll post the rest tomorrow. Feel free to add on to this thread if you shot something too...

Never mind. Found some rules. Says no automatics. That leaves me out.

Ya did good dog, outstanding coverage.
Looks like Quain has set the standard for "real deal" drag racing, so glad for a successful opener for him, the participants and the fans, wish you guys could do a West Coast swing .

I may have been looking at a list of old rules. Couldn't get the one from their website to down load. Will try again later. Thanks, Gene. P.S. Tom, thanks for all pictures!

Great shots Tom, you really have the knack on depicting the spirit of the event.

  18. Awesome pics. I especially enjoyed the shots of the Hundley & Boggs FED and their Chevy wagon push car. Nice to see J. Ed Horton pictured with the car. Thanks for sharing.

Is that the original Dixie Twister, Huston Platt car or a re-creation? Would love to see some more pics of that and also what type of engine it was running? Z11? or a MKIV big block? Thanks!

  22. I think it was an original, one of only 4 or 5. It wasn't very competitive...

  26. Nice meeting you Enloe. You have quite the selection of old magazines. Next time I run into you I'll take a minute to look closer.
