I found a steering wheel I liked but it was too large (15 1/2") for my 27 roadster pu.
I cut it down and made a new 1/4" hoop and for the rim I used 1/2" DuPont Corian countertop material (2 halves).
    I started by using MDF as a template and as a router guide. It ended up being 14" diameter. DSC08648.JPG DSC08654.JPG DSC08657.JPG DSC08664.JPG DSC08665.JPG DSC08668.JPG DSC08678.JPG DSC08681.JPG DSC08694.JPG DSC08732.JPG

Originally I was going to add finger ribs but when I taped it up (pic 7) and tried it, my fingers touched together so I figured I wouldn't need them. After driving it I'm happy I didn't.

That is a nice way to use corian. I'll bet it was fun to make. And it will be really fun to use.

Great, now I have to scavenge for sink cutouts at home sites. The possibilities of multiple colors is intriguing. Does Corian have UV stabilization?

Did you use Corian seamed to flow around the spokes? Looks good btw

46int... I used Corian joint adhesive (color matched)
blackrd....The adhesive did flow around the spokes. To make a dam I stuck tape on the underside then used small dabs of hot melt glue to fill in the gaps
trebll...Corian is UV safe, it's often used for outdoor signs.

Wow! Very cool and creative. Seems a router can be a great machine tool in the right hands.
Liked your adapted Arvin heater setup as well.

The wheel came out beautiful. I looked at the pics several times and you either left out some steps or i'm just dense, I don't get the procedure?

Now there's thinking outside the box! I would never have thought of using Corian for a hot rod project. Turned out great!!
