Kansas HAMB-b-que. Saturday April 29th, afternoon sometime to o dark thirty. Burgers, dogs, potato salad, sodapop, surf tunes and more My place- Abilene KANSAS. Let me know who all can make it. Bring your hotrod, bring your family, and bring your dog. I have a pretty big yard, lots of shade and a play set for the kids. Heck if you want to pitch a tent or bring the RV you can spend the night. I hope all of us in Kansas can make it, and guys from surrounding states also (Nebraska, Oklahoma, Missouri and Colorado for the geographically challenged). I am about 2-½ hrs from Kansas City and about 1 ½ from Wichita. What say you? Spread the word.
Dam, I hate to drive back that far after gettin hammered. Might bring the ol lady to drive back! We`ll see what happens.Thank`s
Sounds real kool...can't commit yet but I'll check with the boss, maybe she'll let me out for an afternoon.
It's at the end of the Chisolm Trail. It's where Wild Bill Hickok was city marshall. It's where Dwight D. Eisenhower is from. It's straight west of Kansas City on I-70, and North of Wichita on K-15. http://www.abileneks.com/ zip code is 67410
It's my hometown. It's where my rod is presently located. How could you forget the Greyhound Hall of Fame? Its so impressive [sarcasm mode off]
Listen to you, Jay, all full of Abilene Pride! Maybe I'll make the drive, although I don't exactly reside in a SURROUNDING state. Does that mean I'm not invited?
Now you know why I moved!!!! I didn't want to inundate everyone with all the wonderful attractions...Like the Smokey Valley Railroad, and Old Abilene Town....
I'm a maybe, have to see what is going on that weekend. Also, don't forget the wonderful, The Telephone Museum, Seeyle Mansion, and Kirby Mansion...I grew up just down the road, Herington. Farmall
Abiline....Abiline Purdyiest town I ever seen Women there don't treat you mean In Abiline My Abiline Welp Jay.......I'm looking around for a new job. If I'm unemployed still in April, I may come on down.
I always figured the song was about Abilene [Texas] since George Hamilton IV also had a hit with the song "Ft Worth, Dallas or Houston" who knows? "Abilene" was written by John D. Loudermilk who's a few interesting jobs: sign painter, telegraph deliverer window dresser, bulldozer operator commercial artist, janitor, truck driver, shoe shine boy, paper boy, carpenter's helper, department-store clerk, steam-shovel oiler, tobacco farmer, factory worker, hosiery-mill worker, lifeguard, cotton-gin worker, door-to-door Bible salesman, television cameraman, photographer, part-time vendor at football games.
Sounds like a good time! I'll see what's going on around then. I'll drag zach's lazy butt out there too.
Marked in RED on the calendar... will let you know closer to the date if I can swing in... 'bout time we all met each other in the flatlands!
I should have a vehicle that could make an hour and a half trip around here somewhere. Put me down as a fer shure!
Give me a street addy so's I can MapQuest your butt Then I will post map so everyone else who is "direction deficient" can print a picture to look at
PM me if'n you want my address and to let me know if your coming. That way I know how much food and beverage to buy. And how many pounds of my "World Famous" potato salad to make.
Hey everyone, I need to change the date of the HAMB cookout to the following Saturday, May 6th. My daughter's dance recital rehearsal and recital are April 29th. My apologies for changing the date, I hope everyone can still make it.
now i am definitely not coming. hope you have a good turnout. ...just remember that his World (in)Famous potato salad is that because it never lets you forget that you have eaten it...
Hey everyone, in the other post I found out the Stray Kat 500 is in Dewey OK on May 6th, so that's a huge conflict. What about Saturday April 22nd?
Hey Nosurf, Thanks for changing the date, it was going to be tough for me to make it on May 6. Put me on the list, Kroeb and I will be there. Will you post the directions or can I just follow the Hot Rods and Kustoms. Happy Trails, Mick
