I saw this on my local craigslist and thought it looked kind of interesting, but it seems kind of pricey. Is it worth what he is asking? If not, what would be a good guess of its value?

Looks like about 1 zero too many to me. From the pictures, it looks like you could spend $15,000 just to get that body into shape.

Is that picture of you in your avatar from before or after you buy this for that price?

That's a hard one to pin down. "Bubbletop" Impalas with a 348 are a valuable car and not easy to find, but this one looks pretty rough. If the frame is solid and it really just needs floors and rockers, I bet the seller will find a buyer for somewhat close to that price. But if it's a real rot box, the price is reaching for the stars.

The problem here is finding comparable cars to judge the price.

Half that price would be too much for me.

Yeah, it seems like he is asking a bit much, but I'm not sure what it's really worth???

  7. If it ran and drove well, had a clean title, it may come close to that. But, along with what he says it needs, I bet on quarters also. Then your headed for a total resto.

only worth what ever some one is willing to pay - post high, drop price according to offer and get your real price - or, hold on to it forever to try to get that one sucker to pay full price

I really like these cars, and the W motor is certainly a plus, but don't want to spend more than it's worth either. Maybe I should take a look at it and see what what it really needs, it's not that far from me.

Seems like way too much to me, you would be money ahead starting with a better car from the south or west. I bought my 61 from the guy that brought it back from California, rust free 60000 act miles but it was 1984. I am sure they are out there. Here is a couple pics of mine for inspiration ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1459732362.896737.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1459732385.428059.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1459732399.845162.jpg

If the frame is solid, and the body isn't too bad, what is a reasonable price to offer?

Yeah, that would get my attention too, but what is it really worth in this condition?

1961 Chevrolet Sport Coupes are not " Bubble Tops" as that was the ONLY top offered in a sport coupe design. 1962's offered both style tops hence the "bubble top" model was named.

There's close to No chance, That all the body mounts are still there with what I can see body wise, I would bet the rear wheel houses are separating from the trunk pan, I'm no expert on these cars, but i would think half of what he's asking "mite" be worth it, as long as You have what he's asking to put into it..my $.02

  19. If I had a parts car and if I really wanted that particular car and IF I had the room, money, tools, equipment and energy to see a complete frame-off project to completion and if the paperwork was totally in order, I'd offer 2 grand for it and pray he didn't accept it.
For 13.5, there are a lot more and better cars to choose from.

Look at those pics, way too much rust hiding behind that paint. Front to back, around the headlights.....

I laugh because you guys think it's too much but you would be asking the same price (or more) if you were the seller.

It is though. I mean, we all (even me) look for something cheap when we are the buyer but when we sell, it's another story. Sorry if I got a little too forward.

You can buy a nice one of those cars in this area for 25k or less if you look around a little. There are 3 of them on the Portland Or. Craigs list now..... Just by the pics that car is a real rust bucket. A 348 Glide car is not that rare. You would have well over 50k in that one to make it nice, and that is if you can do much of the work yourself.

if it started, ran, drove and stopped, i'd say $3,000 I s a good starting point. I can see from here its gonna need all the metal replaced. He may have accidentally hit 1 before He put 3500.

Don't forget to figure the cost of a good tetanus shot in your budget too! I would feel they were picking my pocket at $5000. I don't know how the guy can ask 13 with a straight face. But P T Barnum was right about suckers.
