This is a late post, but I just finished reading this amazing thread.
When I read the first posts I said; "No way. Not with this car."
Then I looked at the post that showed the roof cut off and the first time it was placed back on, and I said; "This is not going to turn out well."
How wrong I was. What a beautiful little car it is. Good work, my friend!!!!!

Hello Guys, thanks for your awesome posts:)

I'm little bit quiet, but i'm always working on the car.

I dont spend much money in my car because i'm broke....and i need some to finish my fregate...

But sadly, the car is parked in the street under cover, i did not drive it about 2 month....the car is blocked by neighbors cars, and one rear tail light was broken, 2 flat tires, and some dents to the body.....no good my morale.

I need to find a new place for my car....i had planned to have a garage/shop, to do some work, and some money, but i lost my plan:mad:.....but i'm ok, penniless, but happy, the sunshine is back, i gonna take care of my car.

The girl is not the reason of these problems, she loves me:p, and i love her:cool:, but i spend a lot of time on my.......new restoration....;)...i'm still working in the street....

    Last pic in january....

I have made a lot of tuning and adjustment (as the passenger door doesn't close properly on this picture, it's now repaired), the car work perfectly, but i'm boring about the bad tires...the next level is technical control, title, and after, i need 5.00/5.25-16 Firestone deluxe champion white wall tires......actualy the car is too low with that ugly radial tires....

About my other car (a french panel delivery:confused:), i gonna open a new thread soon in another post..and only on the hamb forum, the only place where people are cool and friendly.:)

The bumper is a good idea, but those tail lights are still going to get damaged.

It is really terrible when people aren't careful with other people's stuff. Maybe a little late since you already painted but did you ever consider these?

    Love. This. Thread!

  16. Ratty: You might look and think about some straight bumper with a gravel pan between the bumper and body. We called them gravel pans and they were on most cars from some time in the firties until about '54 on chevys. Google some and see what you think. Chin up now bud, your a role model whether you want to be or not. Tim

I'm totally impressed!!! That is one awesome looking car. What you have done with this Fregate is quite good, and very unique. It's incredibly cool! Well done;):D_____ Ray

Ratatouille - I had Moose add a modified '58-'60 Corvette rear bumper to your car.

Note that he put backup lights in the exhaust pods! I also had him remove the vertical bars in the center.

    Just another possibility. :)

Regardless, I'm not sure that any bumper could keep those Caddy bullets safe.

Might inverted early-'60s Corvette taillights work in those openings?

That's what was originally on the Fregate.
One problem with using American car parts on Euro cars is the difference of proportions : our full size is your mid size...
On my Fregate I tried a 54 Ford rear bumper, 56 Corvette bumpers, 53 Buick headlight rings, all this looks too bulky. To make them work they would need to be scaled down by about 1/3.
I may have a pic of mine next to a 49 chevy to compare.

  21. I'm thinking 56 Chevy tail light lens. Readily a ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1458701451.263335.jpg vailable, same vibe as caddy , just don't stick out so far.

    Hello Guys, some news....

I need to have my "Carte Grise", in fact, my named title.

To have this official paper, in France, we must show the car to an inspector...what we call here "technical control". The man test everything, horn, brake, suspension, lights, carbon monoxide emissions and more....

I was a little bit nervous like a student at the commencement ceremony or graduation!

    Everything was ok.....

    ......but i fail the test about.......no wipers:confused:

But it's ok, i can have my title. I have 2 month to represent the car with chopped wipers:p

Lowrange has traveled 40 miles today (mountain and downtown traffic), the temp was a little hot, i need to check the water pump....

image.jpeg image.jpeg Hi ratty.....if you're looking for replacement rear lights a bit closer to home you could try Morris minor traveller rear lights and maybe the rear bumpers
