Uh oh, I think I just figured out the theme of the paint job - hint, name should be "Sausage Party" instead of "Hellcamino"

I think it could be cool (depending upon how much bondo is in it). I am sort of laughing along with you though on the current condition. From the hood scoop to the paint scheme to rims it is appears to be a lesson in just about everything you could do wrong to a car. But it could be cool, I will give you that much.

There's a lot of potential there. First time I've seen one integrate the wagon liftgate into the cab area. Don't take this the wrong way, as this is JMO, but I think you've come up with an appropriate name HELL Camino; I'd say HELL NO Camino. I have had TEN 56 Chevrolet's now, if that tells you anything, and I really hate to see one turned into a pickup truck, even though some are done very well. But, save it if you can, and use a tonneau cover on the back I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

If and only if , you had said you wanted to clone Raymay's 56 I would say go for it but your flat black drippy letter paint ain't no better than whats there to begin with...

  6. Now that's not bad looking! Bruce.

  7. You buy it cheap, loose the droopy bumpers and loose the paint.
    Then you drive it like you stole it;

  8. Well......you can't foul it up any worse...

A regular rear window, get rid of the lip on the tailgate and rear quarters so it looks like a tailgate. Put side trim back on it, and chrome or silver painter bumpers and grill.

while reading this thread I"ve gone yay-nay over and over. If the price is right (read cheap) I might go and blast the body to see what I have, then follow my brain thru tumor shift and build like I was nuts. You may end up parting it out, but nothing ventured................................................

  13. Hard pass. I have nothing against the concept, just that car looks like more work than it's worth, unless it's free. Not even sure free is worth it.

  15. For sure it would be a can of worms when you ground all the bondo out. Lots of patches and panels will be needed. Probably some body mounts and floor pans. It's been outdoors for 20+ years, and it looks like there's no rust bubbles in the doors or tailgate. But if you can do the work yourself, you would have less in it than it's worth. Maybe. Replace the hood scoop with a Ford Thunderbolt scoop. The mismatched front clip would mess with people. Put Lee Bubble lenses in the '56 bezels, and they would look like gigantic '55 tailights. That's a '56 front bumper, also.

Maybe you could get some better input IF you had an idea of what the Dude wants for it!

  19. What is the price? Title & what's left of a'56 210 or 150 2 door wagon (it's not a Nomad) is $800 - 1200ish from what I've seen.
Gotta say, it is somewhat shit-like in appearance.
'Glass companies sometimes used a ''chopper gun'' to lay up the molds. Saw a Tri 5 ''fixed'' with one once. Hope that 'aint it!

Go for it only if it really really really spins your crank.
Take some time and push emotion to the side and think about the time and expense. If it still wows you do it.

If you really wanted one and didn't want a GM, Ford down here made them, factory coupe utilities. Rancheros before they were introduced over there. Easy to convert to LHD.:D

How tough would it be to put a whole wagon roof back on?

Call me an asshole, but I like it. The paint and wheels are stupid, but there's nothing easier in the world to get than '55-57 Chevy parts. Get some Danchuk Nomad quarters for it and put it back together. I think the B/RB Chrysler is a more fun choice than a SBC so I'd probably leave it, but I understand the (resale) value in putting a GM engine back in. Shiny black paint and black T&R interior with a set of Cragar SS would give it a cool mid '60s vibe. Think Hollywood Knights.

Look at it this way... here's your chance to build the first non-boring tri-five Chevy of all time. ;) :D

  28. Non boring? Don't be jealous because it came out of the factory looking boss.

There probably is a new life for this car if someone is up for a real challenge. Maybe they should start another reality car building show. Call it "WTF" and make this 55/56? their first episode.
