Trying to find .030 over pistons for my 8BA. Not building a racer. Going to be pretty much stock except for dual carbs and aluminum heads.
What's a decent source for these. Speedway doesn't have them in their catalogue.

I did find a set on Ebay from a company called Falcon Global. They are sealed power units. Anyone ever use these guys???

    Thank you.

    Thaks,

But I have a 4" crank and am .030 over. The Summit Racing add doesn't specify crank and I am wondering if they are going to work with my pretty much stock engine.

You'll need to get the Merc/stroker pistons.

Is that because there is a clearance problem with the piston skirts???

Wrist pin location is different between 3 3/4 vs 4in crank.

But you did say 8ba, you sure you have a 4inch crank?

According to VanPelt's site it is a 4" crank. Meets all the criteria. It came out of an engine with EAC heads and was a light green in color. I understand things get changed around over the years but I am pretty sure this one is a 4" Merc.

It's easy to find out if it's a 3-3/4 or 4" crank, just lay the crank on the ground, align yourself so your line of sight is perpendicular to a crank throw, the 3-3/4 crank will have about 1/4" overlap between the crank and rod journals, on a 4" crank, the bottom of the rod journal is almost even with the top of the crank journal. Hope this helpes.

You should measure your stroke ,...make a set of v blocks out of wood, set the main journals on the v , rotate one throw to bottom, rotate to top, measure again...now you KNOW your stroke, you are not ass u Ming ...

Another quick way to determine if it's a Ford or Merc crank is to check the diameter of the oil plugs in the rod journals. Ford cranks will have a 3/8" diameter plug and the Merc cranks have a 5/8" diameter plug. If you are rebuilding your engine, you should pull these plugs anyway before you have the crank gunked and ground. Dorman still sells new replacement plugs. You can get them at your local auto parts store that handles Dorman products. If it turns out you have a Ford crank, I have a new set of .030" over pistons that I have been advertising on this site as well as Fordbarn. Let me know if you need them.

Ross used to have pistons. They used to have kits as well, but that was several years ago. Also you might check w/SCAT..

    I have an 8ba with a 4" merc crank and 30 thou over from standard 3 3/16 "

I used egge pistons sourced via H&H flatheads in California

As stated above if you have a 4 inch crank then standard pistons will not work - as the wrist / gudgeon pins are at different heights
