I found this on another board - supposed to be in Bangs, TX - don't know anything else about it and I don't know much about Edsels. Is it factory or, fom the looks of it, a well-done custom
It's custom, a Ranchero tub with Edsel Ranger parts put onto it. All '59 Edsels shared the basic body shell with Ford in '59 so it's not super difficult to do. This is one of the better ones I've seen, looks like they went the extra mile to make it look factory.
A friend of mine has his 1958 "Edcharo" on craigslist in Phoenix.http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/5420862375.html
Wonder how many lemons you can fit in the back? That's nicely done. I built a 1/24 scale one outer an Edsel some years back. Never totally finished it. Edsel's are cool.
There are a few on the HAMB with Edsel rear 1/4's grafted on as well, very well done and look factory.
there is a black ranchero with an edsel front end that goes to salina ks kkoa. pretty sharp car and could probly be found be searching that events converage threads
The Mercury mashup above is really impressive, doesn't appear to be based on a station wagon either, would have taken 3 cars to make that, and it looks well done, from what I can see. Would love to see that car restored.
Old flower cars can also make for some interesting "Ranchero" customs, although they were typically Lincoln based.
I agree someone should save that merc ed chero thing...just not me. . If someone out there is serious about it I could find a telephone number for it but I dont want to be a middle man. Ill get you a number and you can figure it out. That Lincoln flower car is sweet!
