That's much better Tony, thx, think I'll send a link to that write up to Ed Swearingen.
Higgy's right, they do show test and tune from 12:00 to 5:00pm on Sat. in Feb. Events start in Mar. But unless there's a lot of warm weather and bright sun to warm the track, don't know if I'd want to risk a really powerful car just to get a few runs in that could result in a crash from uneven traction. Something to seriously consider before trying, IMO.

You figuring it'll be enough better than SDR to merit the extra towing miles?

  7. Yeah won that one - he beats me most of the time ;)

Selling parts down there Tyler? We should go to Lights Out 7  spectating of course.

Nope. I'm only going because I've got a guy to test some parts we made. Titanium control arms and titanium lug nuts. The most expensive weight reduction ever :D

Let me know, I'll be sure to bring some $$$

    Hey man, who you got???

Anybody remember Macon National Dragway in Jeffersonville.? I believe the previous owners are all in jail now. The Feds have owned it for a few years. It's been locked up tight. Anyway, it appears it'll open back up in the spring under new ownership. The track is in Jeffersonville, maybe 20 minutes from Macon off I-16. All concrete surface. I'd say the atmosphere is a little different than SDR, but I always enjoyed racing and spectating there.

As fas as Lights Out goes, we'll be there Friday. Went last year. It's crazy fast door cars.

Hightower builds kick ass circle track trannys. If you are in the bump stop/raised crossmember crowd, his is the only tranny that lets you get the chassis 1/2 off the ground. A1 stuff

  20. Yes loudbangs! From the C16 race gas only this year  haven't priced it yet

  21. Did he shave the heads at all? Wondering if that will affect the pistons as they fit pretty tight this year. Glad you got them back! Can't wait to hear it!

  22. Yep, the Piston domes were built from digitizing a chamber mold from the heads, before they were repaired, so I have my fingers crossed for Tony.

If the heads were shaved and clearances are now too tight, I understand Cometic (sp?) can/will make head gaskets to your specified thickness, for a price.

Hot Heads sells copper head gaskets that are about .040 thick and you can double them up

  25. CP Carrillo tech line is open on Saturdays! Looks like we are good to go on the P/V clearance. Lots of margin this year - this is with a .040 copper head gasket. The real gasket is .043

Next up - compression ratio .... the burette shows 62CC with the piston at TDC.

Just took a light cut .003-.004 off of them after the welding up those oblong holes that caused issues early on. Did my best to maintain what was there since I knew the pistons were made around them. Based on the clay pics looks good!

Tony did you also check the reliefs radially? Guessing Ric gave a bunch of room there too. Pistons look awesome btw! CP will be getting my business soon.

  28. Yeah Nick - tons of room. Spoke with the expert piston maker about cam advance and retard. Can't reveal what was decided as Yesterday's Chili might give Quick N Dirty heart burn  so need to keep some tricks in the bag.

How do I compute this compression ratio ? All the online calculators want the dome CC - but if I have the TDC volume, that's even better - none of the calculators show how to use it.

    Bore - 4.050
    Stroke - 4.531
    Head chamber is 111cc
The TDC reading on the burette is 62cc (chamber volume at TDC)

  29. How did you seal off the gas ports & top ring crevice area when you cc'd. Was this with head on, through the plug hole, if so was the plug hole pointed straight up?

  30. If your compressed volume is truly 62 cc (chamber, gasket, crevice volume, & dome volume).., you are 16.42:1 .
