Projects 34 3W my way

  1. 1 1/4 looks good to me, 1" may look too weak?

Getting to work on the doors. These are Bobby Waldens braces. I sure hope they are worth the extra work. I hate sagging doors.
I had to replace the lower door skins anyhow so the added work there is no big deal.
I ordered up enough "Second Skin" to do the whole car. It's a butal rubber product similar to Dyna Mat only much cheeper. The inner and outer door skins will get covered with it before the outer is welded on. Doors should sound real solid when closed.

  3. I sure like the vibe of this car. Allot of nice extras! Hope to see it around when done.

Got the door braces welded in and dampener material on the inner door panel. The new outer skins installed, also with the dampener material. Just need to weld the top edge.

Brad, I'm amazed at the work your doing. Really looking forward to seeing your 5W on the road.
Ben, your going to have to make a trip out west with your 3W so we can get a close up look.

Xman that's a great looking project you've got going there. Clearly lots and lots of work in getting the body anywhere near right but your pics look terrific.
As for diagonal bracing on the rollbar - you could cross-brace the braces running backwards to keep as much room up front as you can (unless that's what you already meant).
    Looking forward to more updates.
    Cheers.

I need to get some updated pic's taken. I have the frame going out to the powder coater this week. Looking forward to bolting stuff to it to stay.
The body will be going to a friends shop for some metal finishing and paint prep while I build up the chassis and run the engine. I won't get the body back for 6 to 8 months. I know his pace.
I have a complete exhaust system built for the car, 2 chamber flowmasters out the back. Now I'm thinking I might scrap it and go with straight pipes exiting just forward of the rear tires. How loud would a 276 cid flathead be through 5 feet of 3" straight pipes? Anyone know? Yes, I know it would be right in my ear but I think I can live with it.

It won't be that loud, no compression means less noise. Neet car and thanks again for the firewall. Jim

Not loud enough for that car! It looks like it should be screaming all the time! :)

Got my frame back from powdercoat and started putting things on it. Waiting for the V/8 60 axle to come back from Greg Haynes shop. He is checking out the camber.
The body is ready to go out to my painter in the AM. I can't justify all the $ going into the 34 so I will be putting the 32 5W on the market. Thats my lifes story. I always have to sell one to build one.
That stops with this 34. I'm hanging on to this one.

What a great build, wonder how I overlooked it for all this time, sure made for a great read. What shade of gloss black will it be? Bob

  23. any updates by chance? did you happen to have any more photo's of your cage fitment, especially with comparison with a seat?
    Loving your build,

Getting ready to shoot primer on it. Doors done & look great. Will drive it that way for awhile. Eventually gloss black. Will post some pic's soon.
I have been putting together a 67 Nova post, 700r4 and a 427 L88 for a daily driver :) and will be getting back hot and heavy to the 34 soon.
    Thanks for asking

Got my car back today. I'm happy as a clam! The doors, trunk lid, and hood are hung up and will be painted next week. I have more than enough to do while they get done. Added a pic of my SAR body too. 100_1056.JPG 100_1058.JPG 100_1056.JPG 100_1058.JPG 100_1061.JPG
