And another Lindberg reissue of the excellent AMT '34 Ford pickup, mostly built OOB with the wheels from AMT's "Surf Rod" and recent issue AMT tires... it's still not finished, I have a spare that came off the AMT '34 Ford Sedan kit that I'm modifying to fit the spare tire well.
Yes I have always played with toy cars Where other people collect I build and play with them. Some kids never grow up .Now I have a grandson who loves them as much as I do . We have a large Carrera slot car track , Plus a Drag Strip . It has two real water falls river bridges All the hazards of real driving a lot of fun .

I can not wait to see this thread that 32 just blew me away but I'm going to need to control myself and not reply to every kool car .
After using both kit motors in other builds, I'm building the car as a 60ish hot rod with a W block in it. For the most part it is a pretty nice kit, but I have done some hacking to get things to fit, and hope I caught all the problems since I now have paint on the body.
Just for fun, here are a couple of extremely poor pics of some of my models on my backyard "dirt track" from 1961 or 62. These were from scans of some old negatives I found. I still have the '60 ford pickup in the second pic, everything else is long gone.
Built in 1988 for a "Build a 1957 Chevy" Middle Tennessee Modelers Association Contest. Yes, it's dusty...been in storage ever since.

Here is a AMT 40 Ford standard coupe I built using the sedan fenders,grille and hood that were from the original 1962 kit and the rest from ebay and trade on the model forums plus some parts I had in stock. Motor is a Y block from the AMT 56 Ford kit
My Brother and I were also blowing up, hot knifing or customizing our models in 1960. We watched the Figure 8 Dirt Races on TV and built our own version of those race cars. My favorite was a 57 Chevy I built back then and I still have in my collection today.
Yeah, I used to watch the jalopy races on TV from LA in the 60s. I built a ton of AMT deuce coupes as jalopies back then. I think most of them ended up being blown up. It's a miracle the Ford pickup survived.
