They were quite popular back in the '60's (think Aztec)...and there are still a few around and even more being made into kustoms, which is good becuz most tri-5's are belly buttons these days... R-

Every time my '57 gets posted on here...the so-called HAMB experts start a shit-storm cuz they don't like my pastel paint or the scallops or the grille or the interior...NO thank you...suffice to say it's an old survivor kustom, built in 1965 in Milwaukee, Wis, by an upholsterer named Don Gajdosz (pronounced Gah-dish) and finished 5th on the ISCA show circuit in 1967-68 season and 8th in the 1969-69 season. I found it on a used car lot and bought the pile of junk cuz I saw the potential, not knowing its history. It took my bro and I six and 1/2 years to rebuild the car completely-stripped to bare metal and everything redone -- new paint, new interior, new engine, new 4-speed, and we've put over 75,000 HIGHWAY miles on it...rubber meets road. No, it's not that I'm shy, I just know NOT to cause another shit-storm. The experts on here don't think twice of cutting up another person's car simply because it doesn't meet their approval and I don't need that, besides, I'll never stoop that low, you'll never see me posting on such threads. Explanation and rant over, sorry to hijack... R-

Great way to take the HIGH road ! !! ! ! ! ! !
ok, I understand. Ive liked that car since the first time I saw pics about 5ish years ago (im sure ive mentioned that before). I wasnt trying to start anything, it just sticks out in my mind cause its one of the first wild custom 57s I had ever seen.
Not mine. And I think the old owner is still looking for this car. So if you have any info please post. First picture is what it looked like in 1962. Second set of pictures is how I saw it on a trailer here in Colorado over 10 years ago.
I've been driving this 56 off and on now since '82! Just did a rebuild of the front clip last summer, updated to disc brakes, re-wired, detailed the motor. I bet some of you guys remember seeing this all through the 80's at the Leadsled Nationals.
I have pics of that car on my computer from several years ago. In one pic it looks pink (if I remember) and I was thinking the car must have been painted.
Yeah, I saw your picture on here a long time ago. That was in Des Moines, IA at the '82 Leadsled Nats. Car had just been done about 2 weeks. I sure wish the paint was as good now as it was then.
I lost all my desktop pics and unfortunately one of those pics was that '57 in show mode. It was a black and white photo and it was pretty classic pic. The car was sitting on angel hair, chrome chassis showing underneath, and stude pans, all the classic details.
I saw this 56 at viva a couple years ago, I loved it so much that I sold my 41 Buick custom and bought a 55 Merc and stared all over again !
