I was in Manhatten Saturday to look at the holiday windows and such. I never expected to see this cool truck parked on 45th Street and 5th Avenue.
I think I have seen that truck parked in lower Brooklyn. The cars parked nearby were mostly OT car guy cars. It looked like a car guy neighborhood. Just saw them while on the subway to Coney Island. Subway is above ground down there.
When I first built my Deuce roadster they were redoing the Belt Parkway and the Staten Island Expy. Everybody told me that it was a "minefield" and to avoid it at all cost. The Cross Bronx Expy. had tractor trailer ruts and my car was too low for it. My wife and I went right thru Manhattan, across 42nd St. and thru the Lincoln Tunnel. I can't begin to tell you about the look's and comments we got at every red light. I have to look for that truck, I'm in that area of manhattan often, I notice that it has historical plates on it.
Here are muscle cars roasting tires in Times Square. Happy New Year. LOL!!! Is there a whole underground hot rod culture in the best city in the world or what???? I know the Boros are deep in Hot Rod tradition, but Manhatten? Fahget bout it!
Cool old truck sitting there. I would've done a double-take as well. (r.e. the video) That must be the right time to be there. Each time I was in that area, it was wall to wall cars, cabs and people ! Wish I could've seen those guys smoking them off ...
Awesome! That reminds of when I lived in NJ and we would do cruises in an out of NYC and would tear it up. Lots of fun and a pretty good car culture in those areas, lots of good shows!
what time of day/week/month year was that video taken? i drove down to time square a few weeks ago. should have taken a little over an hour down.............5 hours round trip and never made the function we went down for. F'that shit hole
I was there this summer. Saw 4 pickups in 4 days. Kind of weird for a Texas guy. BTW, the people were great.
Drove big rig in the '60s. Laid over in NYC for 3 days, couldn't get a load. Never so happy to get out of a place in my life. Funny... The N.Y. guys on the HAMB? Cool as snow....
7a.m. in the Summer. Probably a Saturday or Sunday morning. Why the hell did you drive down? No trains from your part of Connecticut?
did not want to rush to make the late train. the last time we went the banquet hall had valet parking. funny, i have friends with apartments down there that told us we could stay with them......i should have taken them up on that......but i just didn't want to spend time down there........ next time i would park in the eighties and take the subway.........
In 1991 drove my 327 small block , 37 dodge coupe in manhattan day after Christmas , no one around.......love straight axle early mopars....by the way I had disc brakes.......broke a motor mount a week later ,,chocked it up with a 2 x4 , drove home and welded that sucker, back on the road in an hour........NYC is my back yard...Texas is my home now......that Mopar was plum crazy....use to pick up my 5 year old daughter from school , no seat belts...secured in there with bungee cord...true story...
