Best wishes for a homogeneous, individualized, traditional, push the envelope, fabricated, homogenized, styled, different, riddled, driven and fun Christmas you can!

That is definately one of the challenges encountered in automotive hotrodsterization. Step back and have a look whilst trying to keep your finger off the throat trigger for chucking...;)

Great points but the HAMB in the very body of its guidelines shows acceptance to what is considered go or no go. It even offers areas for spot on traditional and customs as well as the I would say main forum where the other stuff slightly off is presented. We must meter our input based on that criteria or face scrutiny by the board and I accept those rules hands down. That in fact still leaves tons of great options for the builder. I believe and have seen oodles of builds from a great number of members just knocking it out out of the park with creativity respecting the board guidelines. The membership for the most part do a pretty good job of critiquing the stuff we make and modify. Great things happen here. It is truly inspiring and fun.

  14. Well this one is a little homogenized I suppose but no one can say that it is not traditional. Besides I like it even if it does have too many doors.

Just build the best damn Hot Rod you can and have fun with it. This shit isn't rocket science. Stop analyzing what should be fun and use your own self expression. Just enjoy the gawd damn journey. And if a couple folks join you on the path, so be it. You aren't the first and sure as hell won't be the last.

Oh....... Merry Christmas and all that other shit.

My little banger 32, backwards louvers, full fenders, quick change and little touches here and there. Obviously I'm still working on it but it's not on the clock nor am I. Oh ya, we bring the plants in for the winter from our deck to keep me company. DSCF0001.JPG photo 1.JPG photo 5.JPG

  20. Nothing odd there Tim, you just have taste where most of these local yokels are still stuck on early 90s styling "trends" WTF

I'm way better at stealing ideas than having them. This is a showcase of ideas that don't work for me. I will continue to watch for items worth stealing. Keep trying. I await your inspiration. Ron

This is sort of a hijack but probably 15/20 years ago I built this model. When I saw that photo I had to post this. DSC03107.JPG

As the photos show there isn't a shortage of non homogenized cars out there even though I fully agree that a lot of guys do get caught up in the fad of the month especially when it comes to the AD Chevy trucks that I play with. There is way too much "I gotta stick on the same junk that everyone else is sticking on" line of thinking there.
A lot of our rods and especially traditional rods do look quite a bit alike simply because that look is a timeless look that doesn't scream out when the car was built. If you are going to build a car that will stand the test of time you usually stay pretty close to the original hot rod blueprint. Move very far away from that and you end up with a car that those in the know can tell within a year or two of when it was built just by how it was done and what was used on it. I can dig out hundreds of photos of rods from the 70's and 80's that would cause a lot of younger guys to go into laughing fits wondering "what the hell were those guys thinking even though the cars were the hot lick at the time.
