Well it was time to upgrade the heads and cam shaft in the old '55. I started out with a flat top 355 ci , 10:1 compression and Since I like the vintage look I went with double hump 461 casting with 2.02 valves, mild port and polished, double valve springs, .510 lift Engine Pro cam shaft, early Vette dual plan intake, early vette valve covers, 750 edelbrock carb, headers and 4spd M-22 with 4:11 posi makes for a fun ride....here is how the new combo sounds and next will be the drive... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCoZelgil1s
Sounds good! I'm doing a similar build for my engine at the moment. Going with the comp cams 305h. .555/.555 lift and 462 2.02/1.60, Victor jr intake, and stock rod, piston, and bore for now to keep it at around some where between 9.5/9.8:1 for pump gas. My machinist who does build race engines for a living, said this combo should make around 400/425 hp. Are you thinking the 350 horsepower is at the rear wheels or flywheel?
My favorite 55's are the ones that embody the 60's look. Your car nails it! I'm all set to go for that ride now!
Smoothy I ran the desk top dyno program with my combo and it said about 380hp so I am thinking 350hp to the wheels and it pulls hard to 6,000 RPM where the limiter is set.
My 355 is a point and a half more compression than that, 246@050 solid, perf. RPM heads and intake, 750 dp, it dynoed right at 400hp. Theres dyno HP, and then theres Emap publishing HP.
2 1/2 inch with ebay knock off flowmasters exiting in front of the back tire, nothing special just wanted it to look like it did in the '60's
Nope, with flat top pistons no modifications were needed to get .510 lift, if I went to a dome piston some fly cutting would be required because of the 64cc camber heads.
