I'm thinking about raising the front of my 55 Pontiac 860. Do 55 Pontiac and 55 Chevy spindles interchange? What about any of the other steering components?

Only on Canadian Pontiacs, U.S. Pontiacs are kingpin, Chevy are ball joint.
Canadian Pontiacs are on a Chevy frame.
The U.S. Pontiac is pretty much Pontiac only 1955-1957.

Thanks! I guess ball joint spacers are out then. I'll have to ask the guy making the spindles if he can still do that on a king pin setup. Is that any other way to get the front up without switching to a straight axle?

  4. I get it :)
You want it to stand up like a straight axle without putting a straight axle under it.

You could put in spring spacers or longer springs. Don't forget an alignment.

It might be that older Pontiacs used higher spindle supports that would interchange on your car. I know this is the case on Chevs, as time went by they lowered the front by altering the spindle supports but they interchange.
