Sounds like a lot of work, unless the original caster (perhaps O'Brien?) doesn't still sell them. Have fun, regardless. Gary

Lot of work yes but that is the point...

I learned sand casting in High School. Made a lot of Moon gas pedals...club plaques...fuel blocks, steering column drops, and anything 'trick' I could get my hands on!

One plaque I re-cast was an obscure one, the name on it was DRIFTER'S
As an ardent student of English, that apostrophe drove me nuts. I had to remove the 'S', as well as the apostrophe, and my wood shop pal made me another 'S'. I glued it on, and set my sand; instructor got a big kick out of my diligence for accuracy. I maintained that spelling misnomers on plaques suggested limited literacy in the Hot Rod ranks. He laughed, but agreed.

My instructor was a student teacher: Dick Beith, VW LSR holder and later the founder of ET Mags. I was blessed.

Invaluable skill, but surely 'eclipsed' by the recent art of 3D printing...
I still could cast aluminum, but have lost a source for the best sand.
    Kudos to you, Dan!

So we made a silicone mold and cast a couple plastic plaques, will do some in pewter and when we can get our 3D digitizer working will make some that way as well...

also scored our next casting project...

Great job with the new materiel, Dan! Today's ranks might as well roll with it.

On a serious note, a practical alternative. One can 'Do It Yourself', as you are teaching.

I used PETROBOND sand when I was teaching casting in high school.
Excellent product. Get some and start casting once again.
