Projects It's days like this - that make the time, $$$ and work . . . worth it!

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Bored&Stroked, Nov 16, 2015.

  1. I just took my 1932 Cabriolet on it's maiden voyage with the newly installed 1942 Full-Race Merc flathead. I've been working away on this engine for 2 solid years - can't even imagine the hours and the $$$ that went into it (and that is with me doing most of the work myself).

There are those bad days when nothing seems to work, when you bust your knuckles and go three steps backwards . . . to regroup, rethink and try to come up with "solutions" to whatever problems you created or found. Those days when parts don't fit, when things that should work - just plain don't . . . so you figure out what to do about it. (Falling further behind on your internal date for "when it will be on the road"). Everything takes three times as long as it should . . . and costs three times the money you planned . . . BUT . . . it IS worth it!

So - after all that work, there is the day you get to take that sucker out on the road. This last Sunday was that day for me . . . felt like a 16 year old kid who kissed his first girl . . .

Enjoy my ride - what a fortunate bastard I am to have the opportunity to do this!

  7. Man, that's beyond awesome!!!
    That's just a motoring along.
I followed along on your engine build and was wowed by it.

I haven't driven mine that far yet, but just getting around the block had me pretty happy.

Whenever I have "those days" I just laugh and say "Building Hotrods is fun and easy!"

    I'm very happy for you!
There's two things one must do with a hot rod
    One, scare some chickens...
Two, get chased by a dog:D!
