Have a flathead and 35 box to go into a model A chassis. Don't have a diff, but will prob get a stock model A diff to make it a runner. Have been told the model A torque tube bolts direct to the back of the 35 box, only the clamshell needs changing. I do not have either here to look at , and am doing 5 swap meets next month and leaving this friday so am on the hunt. Does anyone have any side by side pics of an A and a V8 clamshell, or a pic of a V8 one with details on what to look for ...
I believe he's referring to the piece that bolts to the closed drive tranny, from the torque tube. If no answers soon, I bet the folks at www.fordbarn.com will set ya up.
The V8 from 35 on up is a two-piece design with four bolts to hold it to the trans. The 32-34 design also has four bolts, but it's one-piece and can't come off the torquetube without cutting. All the A's have six bolts.
