What book?
Anyway, photo is wonderufl. I like such b&w photos from period, with atmosphere...
(what was story about that serious and proud owner of motorised tricikl?)

Trough period of decages, I gathered a lot of books about motorisation history (aviation, too), and now do not know what to do with them: no good place to keep them, no will to read them again (anyone was red a few times) and nobody is interested here to buy them, maybe not even to take them for free (young people do not read books at all, neither newspapers or magazines)...

That was a very interesting read. It has to be the same car but now with the Indian engine. I would hope that the Chamberlain engine is still around somewhere but probably got scrapped during the war.

So, mystery is now solved: beautiful light special was made by Chamberlain Brothers, and in two versions:

• the first one was Chamberlain Special “The Beetle” with Indian V-twin engine, front-wheel-drive, space frame, independent suspension all around (at rear – swinging suspension by dead half-axles that could look as classic axle, looking form outside) – according to posted photons – it is still alive and sometime present on auto-shows;
• the second one was Chamberlain-8, similar to the first one, but with 4-cylinder, two-stroke engine with 8 pistons, water-cooled, supercharged ... and, with inboard-front brakes at differential box – it is also still alive and sometime present on auto-shows or in museum (video-link attached);

Therefore, it seems that the first model wasn't improved by different braking and disk-wheels – with extraordinary engine: two models were built and still exist! Both of them were examples of extraordinary imagination and excellent engineering!

P.S.: Beside mentioned pair of specials, Bob Chamberlain built recreation of famous racing NAPIER L-48 from 1904 - engine was original, chassis maybe of another Napier and everything else was built by Bob.

I searched a little and found some scanned pages - looks as wonderful book! Then, I found biography of author Charles Jarrot! Quite interesting person, good writer and racing driver. Such books written in period time, by persons active in matter (this time racing) - are the most valuable for me... Beside direct experience and feeling for atmosphere, they are written without later experience "what's happened after" and new wisdom about past from modern attitude...

For me is this Frazer Nash chain drive the non plus ultra for a car.When i decided to use a Frazer Nash chassis with chain drive for my curtiss aero engined car project i was not aware that this solution is very very expensive.

Wonderful contribution, as ever!​

Cute small vehicle in a category of "sociable 3-wheelers": layout as motorcycle with side-car, but with steering as automobile, from side-car position! There were variants for 2 + 2 seating (netire familly)...
Some of my internet-friends like that (thinking about replicas), but I wouldn't dare to drive it, except in "fully pensioner-mode"!
