I have a 59 elco with a 327 and a sick th 400. The car has been a project. When I did have it rolling I could instantly tell that speeds of 70 to 75 were going to be an issue. ( 6 cylinder stick car originally). So I hunted up a 200r4. I wanted an over drive gear and everything I read this would fit nicely into the car. The drive shaft is a mess. Gunna have to redo it. But it leads me to one issue I hadn't over come. See pic. The ol drive shaft need a bolt on yoke while the new tranny needs a slip yoke. Is it as easy as outing my drive shaft with a slip yoke? Can't see why hat wouldn't work. Thought I'd ask first. Thanks your help.
looks like you also need a slightly longer driveshaft...just make sure they put the correct end on it for the 200 yoke. The slip yoke you need is the same one that's used in the TH350, 700, most 4 speeds, etc. and be sure to get the TV cable set up just right, it's very important
Yes Alternately, you can drill the tailshaft with a Cobolt bit, and tap it. There are bolt-on 27-spline yokes.
