  11. Don't buy the cheap ones made of die cast aluminum... they break and/or fall apart easily and often.

Thehotrodcompany (owned by sidevalve on the HAMB ) carries the best Stainless steel version manufactured by Seadog at a very reasonable price!

For the crossbar versions I would look at craftyb caps!

Search Halibrand gas caps and you will find outkastaluminum.
I believe that he is in Kentucky. He makes a very nice gas cap.
I bought one for my RPU.

Just a FYI. They are illegal on any track and a number of states. They flip open and spill gas in an accident. I machined mine so a traditional cap fits underneath the flip.

A small padlock will solve that problem.

I have purchased off both Crafty-b and Outkastaluminum both nice but the Outkast has a higher grade finish and was exactly what I ordered. Crafty-b had several heavy scratches in the polished areas and was not supplied as ordered.

I ordered one from Outkast Aluminum (Robert) last year and I am VERY happy with his product. He is an honest guy, good communication and quite a craftsman.

    Here's a thread I did about his cap(s)
    http://jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/positive-new-product-review-halibrand-style-fuel-cap.868795/

Also, here is his latest listing in the classifieds:

He'll finish the cap any way you prefer - satin, polished, powder coated.

How about one from Dodge Challenger or Charger.

  27. Anything Mopar will cost you... and if I pay that much I wouldn't have enough money to finish the car!

Being in the British car restoration business, that's the first thing I thought of. Unlikely to find any in a junkyard though. A TR-6 will have 2 different styles, depending on early or late production , a Spitfire has a cool one, "original" style Mini Coopers will often be seen with cool aftermarket accessory "cobra" style flip caps, which can still be bought new (even a style with an original style cap under it). Lots of choices from British stuff, original or aftermarket.
