Milk crates are a traditional substitute until you can get your seats in lookin almost like your avatar now, so your gettin close
I built two 55 Chevys, my 55 wagon, and a 57 2-dr HT. All had a red plastic milk carton for a seat until finished. I was traditional and didn't even know it!
I worked at a large factory and many of us were in car pools riding with others cheap. Friend we rode with had a 1950 Chevy panel truck. Those have a wood floor with metal ribs just like the PU trucks. It was like riding in a large culvert. He had a bunch of the old web type aluminum lawn chairs. It was always an exciting ride to work and back.
