Cool! I've had a fantasy lately about doing a DeLuxe Fordor, slammed, with blackwalls and body-color wheels. Now you've done it, so I don't have to. I'd have '40 DeLuxe hubcaps on mine, though.

In the 70s at the Nats East in Timonium and later at York there was a flamed Forty coupe with a little engraved plaque on the firewall that said "A Forty without flames is like sex without a tongue" . I always laughed when I saw that.

That '40 belonged to Barry Lobeck, I saw it in Gatlinburg in the early '70's.

JA Miller, that is a good one! I had not heard that and it only adds to my angst of repainting my coupe black without the flames. Man!

Ok, I looked at the 40's on Pewsplace. Beautiful cars for sure, but I just can't see them bringing anything near those asking prices. 5 years ago I wouldn't have said that, especially for the convertible. 70K on the coupe would have been high even at that time. You can buy equal cars to those for 30 to 40 per cent less money. That's today's reality. I wish it wasn't so because I have a couple of them myself.

  20. Seeing this reminds me of Frank Oddo's coupe. Never will forget the SRM with Dr John Rebenack perched on the running board. I wonder where it is today?

I also have wondered about Franks 40. I asked Brian at SRM if they would do an article about Frank and maybe show his coupe in it's final attire. Got ignored. I know he used to show some photos with a son doing some work, so maybe he has it. Miss Franks work.

  27. I recently saw a new tag topper commemorating the 75th anniversary but for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it. HRP
