Yeah, I know, they'll be lots of NSRA sucks posts, but its still an opportunity to see 12,000 cars ( non of which are 2015 models) and attend an event for four days for $30. Maybe even some Traditional cars will show up. Just don't look at the cars that don't interest you and you'll have no problem.

I live not that far away from the Fairgrounds and haven't missed a Nats since they became permanent in Louisville. Any questions or advice needed let me know.

  2. Are you back from Bowling Green already? I guess it wouldn't make much sense to not go as close as we are. I love the swap meet and there are always get togethers here and there. I hope to be car shopping this year too. Should be plenty to look at. Tim

Several friends and I will be heading down Wednesday/Thursday. The best part of the show for me is the very large number of venders and displays in a ginormous air-conditioned building, especially if you are building/working on a car. The swap meet and Saturday afternoon's entertainment before the giveaway are usually very good also.

I will be there! I don't like to new year limits either but I always find enough real hot rods to look at and I just walk by the others.

    Gary,
    1. Where is the trailer parking at? Is it secure?

    2. Is gate 6 open for hot rod traffic or only the main gate?

    3. Do most hot rods go back to the hotels to park for the night or do people leave them on the expo grounds?

    4. Are there any good evening gatherings like they do in Bowling Green?

    Any other good pointers?

I've been to one SRN in 2013, buth I did not bring my hot rod.

2014 Nats had 11,000 and change cars registered per the NSRA. I know it was too many cars for me to see them all.
Those who are negative enough to dispute the car count, any facts to back it up? What possible difference does it make how many cars were there? I don't work for the NSRA. I just go there to see the cars like everyone else.

    1. Trailer parking is at Papa Johns Stadium adjacent to where you register. Should be secure as they charge you to park your trailer there.

    2. All cars enter the Fairgrounds through the main gate.

    3. Depends where your hotel is. Lots of cars are left at the Fairgrounds over night by folks staying at the motels on Phillips Lane which is just outside the main gate.

    4. Lots of cruising up and down Phillips Lane all night and lots going on at various motels.

I'd try and stay at one of the motels along Phillips Lane if it were me and wouldn't wait too much longer to get a motel reservation. Six weeks out I'd think they would be pretty well booked.

I'll be cruising around there in my '56 Buick. If it's over 90 degrees I probably won't go in because it's just too damn hot to be walking around in the sun all day.... PICT0042.JPG

I am not about to piss in NSRAs Wheaties, I have been a member since the early80s and go to the Nat's every year, but the last time Louisville saw 12K was back in the early 2000s. I have a friend with WAY too much time on his hands and questioned the numbers always announced by NSRA. He took one of the Saturday aerial views and literally counted 100 cars and used this cut out to go over the entire Saturday map. He claims the number to be nearer to 8000. I don't care how many cars there are, I still have a great time every year!

As I said before a well know fact is they skip numbers at all the big shows like this and GoodGuys.
I think the total number of cars is really no big deal at all until someone makes a big deal out of it. It's a good show in spike of the cut off year change. I went several years before they did it - and that's why I went. But haven't been back since - my choice.
    Enjoy the show.
