That car is pretty gorgeous as it sits, but I don't get the spare tire and the bumper choice in the rear. The more I think about it though, the more I think it would grow on me...
Nice car, but it seems to have a bit of a spllit personality going on. From the front, it's a pretty typical little hotrod. From the back, it is more of a show car, complete with pleated trunk upholstery. Did he start adding from the back, and just didn't finish? Or did he start subtracting from the front working back? Either way, finish it out, and you have a killer car with a more cohesive theme. Or cut it in half and make two cool rides out of it.
Of course Buzz's car shoulda been in Rod & Custom! It's a Rod AND a Custom! But wait... if it's really only half Rod and half Custom, maybe it isn't either one?! Now I don't know... I do know that the stubs of the front fenders have me distracted...
Sorry if I missed it in the narrative regarding this very cool old hot rod, but were the pictures taken in San Francisco?
It most certainly is in S.F....... The building in the background of this pic was an old church on the corner of Dolores and 19th, right next to Mission Dolores Park.
I think they caught Buzz in the middle of either swapping out his 'removable' fenders & boards or in the act of putting them all back on. You know like a removable hard-top
Instead of a flat top or a buzz cut, I think Buzz might have been the first guy sporting a mullet! K6
Man, that name sounds so familiar .... but surely not the same old school NHL palooka "Buzz" DeChamp ? As much as I like the car, I could very well love it, if that were the case. T'would be ironic. Nice lawn dart post man. I'll take it.
I sort of wonder when he put the later front end under it and then realized it messed up the wheelbase, the lightbulb went off & he decided to just ditch the front fenders!
I'm not sure the stock fenders would have fit. I can't really tell where the wheels are but I see a spring ahead setup and a forward set radiator.
I'll probably try it at some point but I think I will use a perch up front to keep the axle located under the radiator. I'm planning this setup for the '17 DB if I get to it.
