Vintage looks ,modern drive train for this ex mail delivery truck.Going to be for a refrigeration company with 60's era sign writing. V6 Chevrolet engine ,Mustang 11 narrowed front end.Modified original chassis.
I love it! That's all flat glass, on generic rubber, so it's not even really a challenge. Nice canvas to begin with!
Your's isn't a mail delivery truck. I have a mail delivery truck, it's shorter, right hand drive,, the rear door rolls up like a garage door, you stand up to drive it, no real seat, and doesn't have a door on the left side. The post office didn't like them, so they changed them over to what you have. Other than being longer, I think I like yours better. My neighbor had one like yours. It'll be a cool little Fleetvan when you get it done. Do a google search for "jeep fj fleet van" and you will find all kinds of cool info. Dean
Dean , Your Right,I Think I Just Got It Stuck In My Head. I Guess I Liked The Idea Of Restoring A Mail Delivery Truck!
no mention of roof chop in OP.Sometimes its ok for some cars not to be a challenge when you have other customers cars in your shop that are.
Looks so much better after blasting! You junk is better then what we call a good barn find. When we get something that looks like yours, and blast it looks like swiss chess! I'm a fan already. What are the plans for the body? Stock looking, but a shoptruck? Or a slammed child-molester Van with no Windows? Or a camper? Or, or...
thanks! Refrigeration company shop truck finished in 60s era sign writing. Mid blue lower third fading into ice white over belt line. Stock looking ,modern drive train
I did not imply that. It just appeared that at least a few windows were broken. Getting flat glass made is a whole lot easier and cheaper than getting curved glass made, which I am sure that you already know.
just saw one of those at the Strangers show in San Jose. all crusty looking and unrestored. I seem to remember it did not have a real seat, but some sort of padded shelf looking thing on the wall behind the driver.
That is going to be great. By the way do you have the old steering box? Would it fit on a t bucket with drag link old style steering?
Gonna be another sweet build.Noticed a real rare "bird"in the background in the one picture.Dare I mention it here?Yeah why not.I can only get yelled at. A 21 window Vdub. Good luck.Have fun.Be safe. Leo
49ratfink, that would have been the mail truck version. You stood up to drive it. Right hand drive too. The gas pedal moves back and forth on the floor.
@the metalsurgeon So.... What are the chances that the Front Springs/Axle/Hubs/Brakes you pulled is still around and could be bought? Jeff
