Hy I need your help. The owner before me, made an engine and transmission swap. Before there was an 6 cylinder engine inside with manual 3 gear. NOW its 350 small block inside and TH350 transmission. The rear end have a ratio with 3,93. I can´t drive higher speeds, the engine run high rpm. Whats your experience - What can I do? Thank you Andy

I believe that would work , but why not find a whole center-section ...? far easier to install...dave
If you're bound & determined to change the ring&pinion , call or contact Randy's Ring&Pinion.... good people , good help , good products dave
2OLD2FAST This guy is in Austria. Things are a bit complicated there. If you can find a center section there with the correct gears that would be the simple way. If not get the gearset you need and have it installed. You can't afford to have a whole center section shipped from the states. The gearset will cost more than enough to ship.
Andy, maybe Lexi has a a 62 powerglide rearend, they were 3.36 or even 3.08 if I remember correctly and the would reduce your rpms tremendously. I have a 56 Chevy rearend but thats a 3.55. In my 56 Bel Air is a 62 Impala 283 Powerglide differential with 3.36 gears. You can use anything from 55 to 64. I´m also looking for a lower gear ratio rearend for my 55 aswell, it has 4.11 gears...
Thank you Baumi - I will contact Lexi soon. Who can tell me more about this numbers? This rear axle is now installed in my Nomad. I found at google - 3707306 is from a 56 chevy passenger car. But what mean this OD36?
does this one fit? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1955-1964-C...rolet|Model:Nomad&hash=item43dcf43215&vxp=mtr
That is a GM date code. It is actually "D36". As mentioned by 302GMC, that translates to April 3, 1956.
Allright Baumi - but need time. The truck with all parts will arrive August. Test to know which one is good for me need a few more weeks. So I hope you are not in a hurry.
