So the saga continues... The guys at the machine shop didn't think they needed to call me before putting in a cam that is way too big for my purposes. What was supposed to be a Isky 3/4 race cam is instead a full race cam. Needless to say I have insufficient low-end torque and vacuum. I now have the right cam in my possession and I need to get it in there. I've done a few sbc cams but its been a long time, is there anything especially different with the ol' rocket that I need to look out for? Engine is original 1955 block, now bored to 4.00" and fitted with 57' pistons. On top 56' #10 heads with 1:8 rockers. Thanks!
I can only offer you ENVY, no help. One of the mags, Custom Rodder? is doing a 324 build. They have it on-line. I have a 55 Super 88 2 door sedan and would love to do the 346 thing you got going. Good luck. Yorgatron of some other helpful person will be along soon.
Thanks Paul, I'm glad I asked since I was going to reuse the lifters. They only have about 400 miles on them. Good luck on yours Belair! Hope it won't cost you a small fortune like mine did!
another thing; make sure you have the correct cam. A cam from a 56 324 won't fit the 49-55 because the journal size is bigger, but is the same length.
Texas Webb sure called it... Goatroper02 is an olds guru. I got my cam from his shop rossracingengines and I am very happy!
