Front seal blowout why? Who do I fix it. I'm going to take the trans out this week. What should I look for.

  2. Check the vent on top. If it was just rebuilt then the pump gasket was put in wrong and blocking the vent.
Check the seal opening in the pump for any scoring. DO not use RTV sealer. A gasket sealer on the outside of the seal will keep it from leaking. GMSC, form-a-gasket will work.

It's not a new rebuild been working fine.

  4. Check the vent and see if a mud wasp built a nest in it.

if it has an aluminum front pump, they were known for the front pump bushing walking forward and pushing the seal out. it can be repaired, the fix was to install a new bushing with red loctite on the outer surface and use a seal retainer

Thanks for all the help I'm sure I'll have questions when I get the trans out.

Gm use to offer a "band aid" front seal retainer that is stamped metal for 700r's maybe it'd work for the 200r diameter n addition to other tips. Flux

  8. Yes you can use the 700 retainer, but check the bushing, as mentioned.

You can modify the pump by enlarging the drain back hole, if you feel confident doing such a thing.
