If you are not familiar with shoehorning an 8BA block vs. a 59AB into a Model A, do some research. The 8BA can fit and I had one in my Model A but it is tight.

Right now I think I'm going to stick with the fenders on.

I'm pretty freakin' excited about this motor.

Keep the Hollys or run Strombergs?

I'd have the Strombergs professionally rebuilt w/new throttle shafts & stuff & run them . It'll be reliable as a stone .

They are the highest compression stock heads @ 72ccs. You can mill them some and get them close to aftermarket heads but you are limited to about .360 lift unless you mill the valve pockets. You can pick them up all day for around $100 a pair so cheap HP by raising the compression ratio. The one in the pic is destined for my AV8 one day.

    Go man go!

Glad you found a usable flatty. I vote stromberg just because I ran a couple of holleys on one of my flatheads and HATED them. I ended up rebuilding some old chrome 97's and it runs way better now.

Dont forget to throw a new mechanical advance distributor on there and I think she is screaming for a t5 as well!

I think I will be going with black wheels and black beltline and firewall. Any suggestions on engine color? (49 flathead) I was thinking the green but Bob suggested light gold. Any thoughts out there?

Body color on the block with black heads, pumps, and exhaust. With a splash of stainless and chrome fasteners it should look super classy without looking like a restoration or a street rod.

Can you shed a little light on this, pros & cons of this way versus others?

    Thank you, Joe
