Hello, Here is my frame, with rear notch , full air bag set up..., I will have to use dropped spindle to lower the front even more...
Here's my 52, Aerostar springs up front, lowered 6 1/2 inches in back (Jamco 4" drop springs n 2 1/2" steel drop blocks) I had to do some clearance work on the tunnel and c notch the frame. You shouldn't have to cut anything as long as you only do 4". Good luck!
We have had guys in the Social Group have tunnel issues with a 4" drop in the rear IF they had passengers in the back seat, none with 3".
2" dropped spindles up front 2" blocks on worn out original leafs springs in the back 750-14 tires Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I know this is an older post. Just became a member to research ideas on building my 54 Customline project that I am just starting. Need much help, but this is exactly how I wanted to do my project.
Does anyone put in mustang 2 suspension? I have a 52 Customline I just started on and I have an entire mustang front end with cross member but it seems like everyone coverts to ball joints for $2k. I can find almost nothing on a mustang 2 suspension conversion. Do I even need to convert to ball joints for that matter? This isn't going to be anything but a rat rod to screw around in with an EFI 5.0 with a nice custom cam grind I've used on several cars and maybe a supercharger. I chopped it this weekend and built a carson top that needs to get upholstered now (roof was in bad shape). Any recommendations? Disc and power brake conversion? Do something with the steering? Aerostar springs for the front? I have a selection of blocks for the rear (I'll try for 4"). I just don't want to re-invent the wheel on this one with trial and error. I want to get it done before it gets 8000 degrees outside and while I made a ton of headway in 2 days after I took it off the trailer and let it sit 4 years ago (no more girlfriend = more productivity). I have the back glass if anyone wants it (not sure what it would cost to box it up and ship it). I managed to remove it with no damage all by myself with my bucket truck. I've attached a picture for reference of this ugly pig. I cut and pasted in microsoft paint to get the drop I'm looking for and colored in my carson top (you can see the frame in the shadows on the seats). Any words of wisdom would certainly be appreciated!!
Check out some of the build threads on here and kinda look around the site. You aren't gonna find any rat rods .Hell, most guys will jump on ya for just saying that term [just say beater] . Tonnes of info on the best /most traditional ways to lower without breaking the bank or getting your project bogged down time wise. Have you considered white primer and full wheel covers ,would look good.
