was passing through Niles today, and saw Don Knopp out front of his shop on Niles Blvd. had to stop and visit with him. didn't recognize him at first without his top hat on. there are a lot of antique type businesses in Niles but, he has the best in town. his shop is packed solid with lots of car/truck parts that you might need. he recently sold everything, including 130 cars, from his 28,000 sq ft warehouse down in Fresno. I did not know that he is one of the originals for the Early Ford V8 Club - see plaque. He is doing good, just needs more customers.
I really liked dealing with don the inventory was all in his head wonder if he still hits the swap meats with his top hat
I stop by Don's once in a great while. I am glad to see he has recovered from the robbery assault that happened to him a few years back. In Niles of all places! A real throw back little town.
Thanks for bringing the old thread up - especially for the B&W photo acknowledging his passing - his knowledge of parts, along with his wheeling dealing talent made any interaction with him a memorable one - hope that things were resolved between his daughters that were arguing over who should have cared for him & his estate - sincere sympathy goes out to his true Family & car family & friends
