We found this photo in my brothers barn in Florida -- how many seconds for the pros here to identify? Oh, that's the car -- not the dude!
I think we can rest assured that the guy in the photo had no trouble hooking up with the ladies in whichever town he lived in.
Auburns were fairly EXPENSIVE... So yeah, he probably did alright with the ladies. Is that arrow thing just so you can "see" where the right fender is from the driver's seat?
the guy is Herman Van Schepple, he had a chrome plating business in Erie Pa. I believe that was a customers car, as Hermie always drove Chevrolets.
Dapper comes to mind Auburn with some very dapper additions for a very dapper dude. Too bad both of them are not still with us.
That being the case, Hermie apparently had a VERY GOOD customer in the owner of the Auburn! That gas station in the background is no slouch either! I really enjoy these period photos. Thanks to the OP for this one! Ray
Hermie also had a second family living in a small mountain town in N.Central Pa. Wife & 3 children. this was all discovered when Hermie was caught dumping used chrome plating chemicals in a small river near his second families home. he never went to court as he deserted both families and supposedly went to W.V. where they did not have extradition laws at that time. a son from the second family later entered politics and became a state senator, and ran a chrome plating business on the side.
I think you might have started a new trend in threads about Barn Finds. Barn Finds of photographs, that is...
