I'm making good progress on completing my 58 Chevy 1/2 ton but I'm having trouble finding the felt upper window channel that replicates the original design. I have purchased the cloth and felt covered segmented metal style but it doesn't have the clips as the original. I have seen article and videos of guys glueing these in, just doesn't see right to me.

Does anyone know if correct style channels are made?

Or I'd even purchase an old one and try to modify a reproduction to match?

    Thanks any ideas may help.

Yeah, that's always part of the challenge! The clips are installed at 1, 12, 18, and 26" from the upper end of the channel. You could probably make something from flat sheet metal and pop rivet it on, then mash the rivets flat. It catches in the garnish molding, I think, to hold the channel up.

  5. Nothing wrong with gluing them in. Just need to fit them good with the vent window in place. Then glue them in and tape in place till the glue dries. I've done an untold number of tri 5's this way with no problems.
