I picked up this old Ansen drag brake for my plymouth gasser today! Guy I got it from had it listed as a shifter handle! chrome is really nice on it. Im always looking for more vintage pieces for my gasser, I dont want to use anything newer than the 1960's on it. This will be a cool addition to the car and keep people scratching their heads, lol

Never seen one of those but now I want one, and I don't even have a drag car. Yet.

I am sure you meant "newer" than the 60's, right?

Nice score. I found one (or at least I thought it was) a few years back for my Comet, it turns out mine was made by another company Blair Performance Equipment.

  5. pretty groovy, am guessing you adjust it so it engages enough to hold the front brakes or was this back in the single pot master days?

yep, I meant "newer" and Muttley, your post is the one I located when I was trying to figure out exactly what the guy was selling, I knew it wasnt a shifter, and I also knew if Ansen made it , it must be kool! once I knew for sure what it was I had to have it for my gasser, just way too kool!

  7. It holds all four brakes so your feet can be on the clutch and gas pedals. Think of a basic "handicap" vehicles brake system.

heres the last pics I took of the '55 plymouth. Coming along slowly when I have money to work on it, and also still collecting parts as I go. I found the rare edelbrock mopar 6x2 intake on ebay, Ive only seen one other and it was on an edelbrock obsolete intake website. The carbs were chromed a long time ago and not much chrome is left, but gives them an awesome patina, ill just rebuild the carbs and use them as is. I also recently picked up a couple vintage Eelco fuel blocks for it.

I found an EELCO drag brake a few years ago. NOS / mint cond. The original box disintegrated, but here is the instruction sheet. Pretty cool piece.
