Wish I could be there. I was in a horrific accident in a Non-Hamb 62 VW Beetle (all stock - I restored). I took me MONTHS to heal. In the end financial justice / compensation for a fully restored VW Beetle was fair, but that goes not mean that these events are easy. I will always wear the scars on my face Chin, Lips, and head, (thank God it was not head on, or you'd be dead" the ER doc told me. The dashboard which buckled from my shoulder saved my life). All I had was lap belts. Javier God Speed and a speedy recovery!

I am Javier's friend. I saw him today. He is now in the sub acute unit at holy cross. He is making great progress! He is now awake and is moving his limbs on his own. He is still not talking or walking but he has an evaluation tomorrow and if he gets cleared he will start physical therapy and they will remove the tube on his throat which will enable him to talk.

His family and local firehouse in Granada Hills, CA will be putting together a pancake breakfast fundraiser on Sunday, November 23rd with all proceeds going to Javi's medical bills and family.

Please help by coming by to purchase some pancakes, spreading the word and donating to his go fund me campaign here ---> http://www.gofundme.com/aheronamedjavier

Thank you all for your prayers and good vibes!

Thanks for giving us an update on his condition and recovery Rene. We as fellow hot rodders have had him in our prayers even though we didn't know him personally. Hopefully you will get a good turnout for the pancake feed and that some us who can't go will buy a meal or two too.

I see in the flyer for the pancake feed that he is a firefighter at that station.

I am really moved and happy to see that he is being kept in a lot of people's prayers and good thoughts. He is an amazing individual, and god knows that and that's why he is still here with us. It's truly a miracle. He is a firefighter for Fire Station 103.

Thank you for the well wishes, and yes anybody reading this, please donate! Anything is welcomed, his family will greatly appreciate it. Specially now that he will have to under go extensive physical therapy at a specialized facility.

I had neck surgery a week ago tomorrow, and I am still on soft foods. Jello, icecream, watersoups ETC. What I am trying to say is even when the tube is removed, he will still have a very sore throat and a hard time swallowing, even pills.
Sounds like he will be alright, but is going to be sore and achy for a long time. He is going to need a lot of support and financial help for a while.
Wish him all the best and it is good that he is young and strong to get through all of this.

  9. Don't forget to donate to this young firefighter!

I really hope we can get some fellow hambers to show up to the fundraiser. I have about 5-6 friends that are meeting up and cruising up from Orange County area. A couple model A's, a deuce, and a few other cars. Come out and support.

The typical reaction by these "yellow journalists" is sensationalism, first and foremost. MOST don't know their asses from a hole in the ground, yet are ever ready to create the best version of what happened. I just hope the passengers recover and get on with their lives. Plus, I surely am anxious to find out what component might have failed. Our prayers are with the injured.

I had a early Super Bell axle break. It was on a 36 ford pickup that I was just getting on the road. The rear brake cylinder failed at just rolling speed going down the drive way. I didn't have fenders on it so I thought I would just let it slide into a retaking wall to slow it down. To my surprise it snapped at the area near the logo. They replaced and I put a Mordrop and had no more worry. No more cast axles.

The gofundme link has a write up in it. It says lost a wheel and careened into the center divider. In the pictures of the crash the roadster has both front wheels on it. So I'm assuming it lost a rear wheel?

Hoping like the rest of you for the best possible outcome for Javier.
