Technical Camshaft Names

With the release of Lunati's Bootlegger cam I was wondering what other creative cam names guys can remember. Ex. Scolded Dog.

 

I'm assuming you meant Scalded dog.

First of all they're not camshafts they're bumpsticks.

 

Camshaft/bumpstick/whatever ! The Potvin Eliminator ! Eliminates all competition or the engine !!

 

I have one of these for an early Olds, The decal has the words, "thrives on competition".

 

D&L "Cheetah's".
Faster than most.

 

I can remember "Three Quarter Race"

 

I have a "Wolverine Dual-Duration Cam" in my 292.

Isky's "5 cycle" hype back in the day is the most memorable for me.

Remember the Schaler "Quarter Speed".

 

Lunati used to make a Throttle Stop cam (maybe they still do) it was designed for cars that use throttle stop. A good around town cam actually, it was made to go from full WOT to slammed shut then back to WOT.

Crane used to make (and probably still does) a Fire Ball. No doubt boot strapping Fire Ball Roberts to sell cam shafts.

Comp Cams makes the Poser, uh excuse me, Thumper cam. Supposed to be a modern grind that sounds like a muscle car era cam shaft.

 

Schaler! Now there is a name to conjure with! I had a Schaler cam in a panhead I guess 40 years ago. Actually longer than that now I think about it.

Winfield's legendary "3/4". Probably the most abused and maligned 'name' cam in hot rodding.

 

GW by the way another over used and abused cam name is RV cam.

Oh how about Reverse rotation and 4/7 swap.

 

When we were in the 9th grade, one kid's uncle had a "Big Olds" with a Roller Brown racer cam ...
