    Hi everyone,
I have a 50 Mercury flathead with iron heads and thermostat housings.
I am getting a coolant leak through on the the thermostat housing bolts.
When I remove the bolt I can see coolant in the bolt hole.
    Is that correct?
If so, how should I seal the bolt hole? Thread sealant etc.
    Thanks for you help!

  2. Gasket sealer around the t stat gasket on both sides and some around the bolt threads.

There shouldn't be any water in bolt hole unless they have broken through the head.

However after loosening and removing the bolt may allow water to seep into the threaded hole.

    Thanks for the help.
I am still not sure if I have a leak in the bolt hole.
I will try the permatex and see what happens.
