One thing I found on this car shows it had a great life at one time is the many paint jobs. One of many was this candy color.

I kept seeing this dull orange color in different places and it looked really odd. I pulled off a piece of chrome to find maybe the only piece of that paint. A 1" spot of what looks like a very cool silver base, metallic, candy tangerine.

A little more work done between old man naps.
A lot going on with the front end sheet metal. I moved the front axle forward for a more radical look. At first I was going to leave the wheel opening alone but could get past the look.

Used some tape to mark out where I want my cuts.[IMG]

The long cut was place 1/8" under the bottom part of the chrome.

I lined everything up and got it as close as I could before letting my 16 year old daughter, Sami spot weld the hood to the fenders.

    Clamp in place.

I figured it would be easier to shape the bottom section in a smaller piece since it has a funky contour to it. So just the upper piece is welded in this time around.

    More slice and dice.

The bottom of the fender is welded to the car body. The chrome is just stuck on to show how it will hide most of the split in the fenders. The small cut section is all that will show when the hood is closed.

I don't have the stops on the hood yet so a bucket was used.

Surely not hot rodding 101. Strange mix of hot rodding. One thing I can say is I don't think there will be another one just like it at the Friday night cruise ins.
You can also see how far forward I pulled the rear axle. Not crazy but it is altered.

May do some flake but the blower is way out of my price range.

Don't worry about stops. Get a pair of tailgate cables from a newer PU or wagon, and attach them to the frame and front braces. Use a sliding clamp on the frontend braces so you can adjust the full open stop.
Here's a picture of mine. I used a piece of flat bar stock bent around the tube as an adjustable mounting point.

I was just looking at pictures of your Falcon. Slick ride man. I love it.

Not sure what I'm going to do yet but I was going to run brackets off the front for a tow bar. If I do that the mounting points for the flip will rest on them fine.

Back to work on the 54. Had to knock some projects out but we are now back on track. 6 banger is out and the big motor is being mocked up for placement.

I like what you've done. You really saved the roof with the little bit of C pillar. That car was a goner, for sure.

  20. Holy schmoly... that is one way to polish a turd!!!!

I Never would've attacked a cobbled up mess like that car... but you are either insane or possessed and it seems to be working.

Great seeing it actually getting done!
