Montana usually gets it's first snow storm of the year mid October- Otherwise the first part of Oct is usually pretty nice.

  2. I can't speak for the midwest or the rockies, but I know that last year, I was wearing a t-shirt and shorts all day, and jeans and a t-shirt in the evenings.
I'm planning on sleeping in the bed of my truck on my way down, and then when I'm over at Hershey. A good sleeping bag or some blankets, and I wouldn't worry too much.

Course, I've been winter camping a couple of times, so the real question is... How rugged are you?

Great. It's going to be my first time at Hershey too. Now I'll have to compete against legendary bloodhound Chris Swenson for the deals.

  5. I think many of us are plugging away. My bro is working on the engine and I'm getting the top loader put back together. The mad dash is always the time when unrealistic things get accomplished.

8pm - 2am, that's how I built my 28 and still got to see my kids. It's worth the effort . We can sleep when we're dead Nils.

Got my modified T honeycomb radiator plumbed today. Filled it with water and found damn near a dozen leaks. Luckily nothing in the core.

Picture from yesterday. It's all apart with the paint drying now. Looks like there's a lot left, but a lot that you can't see is already done.
Wheels and tires will be mounted this weekend, then it's ready to race.
The little hopped up banger runs like a champ.

Dude....that would be an epic road trip! You have to come! The T and I are hitching a ride with T_N_A back east..

I have the feeling that you would just luck out with decent weather....the last fleeting reminents of summer.

This will be a blast and certainly not to be missed.

  18. I would put this question to Zach Suhr, or Jeremiah Thomas. Both are pretty close to Hershey, so they might have some suggestions on a good stopping point in between.

It's not too terribly far from Wildwood to Hershey. I live about 7 or 8 miles east of Hershey and Jeremiah is a couple miles west.
Burnzy, if you end up in town early on Monday and I am home from Wildwood, you're welcome to stop by my shop. We'll likely be packing the car away and getting ready for Hershey... so it might be a mess, but you're welcome none the less.

  20. I don't have anything booked for Monday night either. I was just planning on winging it. Cruise along, stop when something catches my eye. Eventually find some place to hole up for the night.

  26. New Jersey is beautiful in early October!

People, be prepared to be warm or hot at Trog during the day. Maybe a light coat at night. Beach party!!!

We usually sweat all day. Shorts are a must if you want to get wet.

Seems Ca water is always cold. In Jersey, the water is colder in the spring and early summer. In October it is warm from the summer sun.

    Dig it!

  27. A inline 6 is not a completely legit Trog engine bud.

We only race 4 bangers, flathead V8's, and now have an ohv class for both engines above.

    No modern V8's.

Note: We have never let a Modern V8 run in a Trog race.

We have let select cars with 50's period correct parts run in exhibition on Sundays.

Races on Sat are all banger and Flathead V8.

If by chance something strange was to race down the track on a Saturday, it is not in the race, and merely thrown in because there is a lull. Due to a car not at the line, or mechanical failure with cars on deck.

So please don't point out that we are breaking our own rules! Thanks!!!

    Yes, you are annoying! Hahaaaaa...

  28. Ok! So today is the start of our announcements for racers.

They will come when I post them, not like clockwork. Be patient please!!!

    Drivers get ready!
If your name and car are announced, please email me at, [email protected] for instructions and check in.

I will need your shirt size for our "Official" Trog race jerseys.

Driver entrance fee will be gathered a head of time and we can speak with you about entry cost, this years rules, and check in for thurs, or Fri, October 2nd or 3rd.

If you can only check in on the 4th, be sure I know this!!! Have your racing forms filled out, and be early on Sat.

Racer/driver check in is in the same place as last year. The Starlux hotels vintage Airstreams, in which we Oilers stay in. Can't miss it, on your left as you come into town on Rio Grande.
