I'm gonna come to the defense of billet here. There is nothing wrong with "one off" pieces that were hand made on a Bridgeport or other machine. Billet (as a fad) only started with the mass produced/vacuum packed pieces that became a rage. Funny part is that a lot of those pieces weren't/aren't actually started as billet. So once again, Dragon was right -
"I foresee yet another closely defined historic term being corrupted, aborted and ruined."

To lump the mass produced pieces together with the one off hand made stuff is slighting the craftsmen that still have the skills to run machinery without the aid of a computer.

This spring, I needed some extra credits for my welding course, so I took Basic Machine. Next time I'm by the school I'll snap a pic of the room full of Bridgeport's. I learned a lot in that course, mostly appreciation for the folks who run the machines and make things with them. The class instructor would bite his nails, when a smart ass referred to the mass produced crap being called billet. In fact, I was the cause of his first nail getting chewed off.:D

That quote is correct. "I foresee yet another closely defined historic term being corrupted, aborted and ruined." Once again, a term being manipulated to let the "fakers" play with the cool kids. And it's a damned shame.

fuel pressure gauge, the feed runs just behind the firewall and comes out into the rocket shaped fuel block in the middle of the firewall. Thanks

  12. detail pics 001.jpg detail pics 003.jpg detail pics 002.jpg My homemade tri-power air cleaner set up. 1/2 inch thick aluminum machined on my table saw and drill press. I used the pieces cut out of the bottom piece as hold downs for the finned top piece.

FEDER looks like you have a couple heavy hitters there.

Those are beautiful engines above! I'm pretty proud of the job I did, stuffing this 331 with Edmunds intake and a pair of Carters, in my '36 pickup. All done by this owner, in my barn. 331 hemi (2).jpg

  16. If you mean the finned top of the air cleaner, I made it out of 1/2 inch thick aluminum, I cut the ribs on my table saw. Made the recess with a hole saw and a grinding wheel on my drill press. I got the aluminum at the local salvage yard for about $20.00 for both pieces (top and bottom). Filters are N.A.P.A. items I believe for a John Deere.

That's neat the paint makes it look cast.

  18. Guys. I wasn't lumping anything with anything. I complimented his setup. Then I mentioned one possibility. Not a total stranger to the Bridgeport and I'm well aware what billet is and isn't.
