    motoandy,
just my opinion but i actually think the all in 1 stock gauge looks better than multi set ups. and you've got room for a tach on one side and whatever else you like on the other. but with that said since i'm doing so much cutting/swapping in my uni i can't get the idea of maybe something like a '63 galaxie cluster swap. i keep looking for a cheap one to try my theory. i also found a similar all in one gauge from a rambler that looks to be same size as the stock but is "hooded" and has sweep 1-12(instead of 10 to 120) that i pondered for a while...

  2. I just picked up a gauge cluster from a f 600 . looks like the 1/2 ton cluster but no idiot lights. and it was 2$

Yep, I'm leaning toward the stock single cluster setup because I would be able to mount my front and rear airride gauges on either side of it. Stewart Warner makes a cool air gauge but the psi range is to low

i finally gave up looking for an f600 cluster. and tellin us you got one for $2 is just braggin hahaha....ken....

  5. The sad thing is that it came from a rust free straight 32k truck. I got there just after they ripped the top and front off with the claw. The cluster was the only good part left. On a good note, I purchased a 63 b600 school bus from another scrapper.

Thanks man, I wanted to retain a semi stock look. I didn't want a big billet piece or something too custom since my truck will have that patina/bagged/white wall look. I chose the tach center because it was a "old model" but found it new on eBay for $39 lol. Other wise I would have done the 5" speedo, 3 3/8 tack and quad; but I think it turned out cool for roughly $300 ish....

Thanks Kyle, frame needed a good rinse anyways. I've been doing some filler work on the cab and there was bondo dust everywhere.

Got everything cleaned up after the flood, and the shop aired out. Ended up with 8 inches of water in the lower part of my shop...I really need to get back on this frame and start boxing it.

Original plans were to keep the patina, but I've decided to do the body right. Fixing all the dents and welding up trim holes. I'm thinking of going back with the original "glacier blue" color, but in satin.

What did you or what are you going to use for a master cylinder with this setup?

I love what you're doing with your truck. I'm in the process of doing something similar with my 63.

Why did you decide to go with the highlift triangulated fore link system on the rear? Instead of a bag over axle system?

Hey there fellas it's been awhile since I've worked on this ol ford but I recently got some time to start boxing the frame. I picked up a 54 cadillac so I've been kinda hyped up about it and haven't gave the ford a second look. But I'm back on it now! Here a few shot of the boxing plates being tacked in. I cut all the plates free hand at work with the plasma... Big time saver. It's all 1/8 and also cut holes in rear sections for Access to bed bolts.

I'm going to use manual master cyl from a 72 mustang /maverick . I've hear just using a manual master cyl will work great with the jag brakes. If I need to later on I can always just adapt the booster from the mustang and it will bolt right up

  21. Nice work on the boxing plates. I also used Jag IFS, but on my 52 GMC project. I used the Jag P/B booster and M/C, and inside cab used a pedal swing set out of an S-10. All bolted up nice and easy, just had to adapt the brake pushrod a bit. I used the whole 86 Jag donor car as much as possible, incl the IRS as well. Nice thing was my donor was already SBC/700R4 swapped in, but with bad engine. So I used the trans as well!

The Jag IFS is real clean and easy swap, yours sits nice. Mine is welded solid just like you did, with the front mount pieces cut off same, but without being Z'd frame.

On the steering, I used the stock Jag steering intermediate shaft with the funky joint at rack and then a just a simple adapter u-joint to mate with a GM column at the other end.

Thanks! First time boxing a frame so I'm pretty happy with the results so far. I searched forever for a donor jag but all I found was just the ifs from a guy here on the hamb. He had it in a 50's chevy car. How did you like the ride and handling of the jag ifs?

  26. Only been driven around my neighborhood so far, speeds up to maybe 35 max, but rides nice and the 4wdb about throw me through the windshield. Very strong brakes.

Only slight quirk on the Jag is while the bolt pattern is 5 x 4.75 (aka GM midsize), the hubs are larger diam than stock GM wheels; so you can't use GM steelies unless you turn the hubs down. I am using aftermarket Rocket Strike wheels, which clear the extra diam of the hub. Also Jag uses 1/2 inch lug studs vs 7/16 used by GM, so be sure to buy the right size for lug nuts.

Cool , I've heard they will ride well under most anything. I got lucky with the wheels I purchased from summit. They are made by wheel vintiques , center bore was big enough to clear to hub and studs were also fine. They are 15x7 with a 3 and 3/4 bs. Also ordered some 47 ford caps to go with them.

Yea I know, things have been moving slow with everything lately . I hope to have the frame fully welded up and paint by this weekend. After that I can throw the cab back on, I've already have my new body mount rubbers and bolts from lmc truck
